At PJFL, our mission is to provide a fun, safe, and inclusive football experience where young athletes grow as players and people. We focus on teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and respect—values that last far beyond the field.
For over 55 years, we’ve welcomed players of all skill levels, offering equal opportunity to learn, compete, and lead. Through coaching, mentorship, and community support, we strive to build not just better athletes, but confident, character-driven individuals.

Elected to the role, Anita brings years of volunteer service and leadership across multiple roles. She has been instrumental in reviving our cheer program — all while raising three boys who have proudly worn Hawks colors. - Treasurer – Anita Walrath

Through the Decades
For over half a century, Pleasanton Junior Football League (PJFL) has been more than just a league—it’s been a tradition. Since 1969, thousands of players, coaches, cheerleaders, and families have come together to build a program rooted in sportsmanship, teamwork, and community pride.
As we celebrate 55 incredible seasons, we invite you to take a walk through PJFL history. From our humble beginnings in the early ’70s to the vibrant program we are today, this league has been powered by generations of volunteers, athletes, and passionate supporters.
Become a Coach or Volunteer
Make a Difference – On and Off the Field
Whether you’re a seasoned football coach, a parent looking to get involved, or someone passionate about helping kids grow through sports, there’s a place for you on our team. We’re looking for enthusiastic, positive role models to serve as Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Game Day Volunteers. No previous coaching experience is required—we provide everything you need, including:
- USA Football Youth Coach Certification
- Access to Coaching Tools & Resources
- First Aid & CPR Training
- Ongoing Mentorship and League Support

Practice & Game Locations
Committed to Growth — On the Field and Beyond.
All PJFL practices and home games take place at two of Pleasanton’s premier athletic facilities: Ken Mercer Sports Park and Patelco Sports Complex. These well-maintained venues provide a safe, spacious, and family-friendly environment for athletes to learn, play, and grow.
Ken Mercer Sports Park, located in the heart of Pleasanton, is known for its expansive fields, modern amenities, and ample parking—making it an ideal home base for our practices and flag football games.
Patelco Sports Complex, with its professional-grade turf fields and convenient layout, hosts many of our tackle football games and larger league events.
Both locations are easily accessible from anywhere in the Tri-Valley area and are central to our mission of keeping youth sports local, organized, and community-driven. Whether you’re a player, coach, or cheering family member, you’ll find a welcoming atmosphere and a strong sense of team spirit at every PJFL event.
